Web Hosting Software as a Service Firm, Etelos, Implements Enterprise Web Apps (- InftekHosting.Com - Hosted Kerio Email)
November 24, 2008 – 5:00 pmRenton, Washington - (The Hosting News) - November 24, 2008 - Web hosting Software as a Service firm, Etelos, has debuted the implementation of an enterprise web app distribution platform, in order to enable software providers to distribute traditional enterprise solutions.
The Etelos Platform Suite represents a fundamental shift for the company as it focuses on enabling enterprises to implement their own Software as a Service applications and Marketplaces, as well as syndicated distribution channels.
Etelos has long enabled applications to be distributed via the Web and this new offering is exposing the core platform to enterprises for greater benefit to their end users. On the surface, this signifies a departure from a core direct marketing focus on the Etelos Marketplace. Etelos will begin supplying software makers and vendors with their own custom implementation of a SaaS Marketplace and platforms for distribution and channel management.
Danny Kolke, Founder and CEO of Etelos noted, ”I have long said that in this business, the customer usually gets what it wants. Our larger partners want the opportunity to have their own marketplaces and tools to manage distribution channels. Additionally, they have applications that they need to move to the web for implementation move to the web for implementation and scalability. The future of all software is moving to the Web for distribution, and we are proud to have Etelos powering part of that shift.”
Etelos also launches today with the support of NuOz, a Seattle, Wash.-based Internet service provider and MTP, a software reselling company. MTP will use the Etelos Platform Suite to support distribution of web applications to their customer and partner base. NuOz will launch a Distribution Marketplace for its own VOIP phone services as well as hosting and Internet service products. It also will syndicate applications from third-party software vendors and Etelos Syndication Partners.
Current partners and applications available on the Etelos Marketplace can be syndicated and made available through each Marketplace using the Etelos Platform Suite.
The Etelos Platform Suite consists of four key products:
- SaaS Application Platform:Technology that enables traditional (”shrink-wrapped”) software to be distributed as Software as a Service.
- SaaS Marketplace Platform: Easily managed Marketplace that integrates licensing, billing
- SaaS Distribution Platform: Turnkey Marketplace with a company’s products or services integrated into it.
- SaaS Syndication Platform: Application developers can publish their app via a network of distributors.
Brent LindellFounder and CTO of NuOz remarked, ”Etelos is enabling us to move our sales to on demand distribution and scale more quickly than we could just on our own. Beginning with our VOIP service ‘Nuoz Web Phone’, our customers will be able to more easily deploy applications, products and services with our new Web Marketplace. By implementing the Etelos Platform Suite, we are able to provide additional value, additional services and additional functionality that our customers are looking for today.”
The Etelos Platform Suite will be offered on a subscription basis. Pricing, detailed features and implementation information are available at the company’s new web site.
Etelos is a web app distribution platform delivering Web apps for businesses. Unlike other cloud computing and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions, Etelos enables software manufacturers to migrate existing applications or create new applications, then package, distribute, host, bill, market and support their Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) enabled application with their own application marketplace. Etelos, the Etelos Platform, EASE, Etelos App Server, Etelos VE, Etelos Cloud and Etelos Marketplace are trademarks of Etelos, Inc.; other trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

Houston, Texas - (The Hosting News) - November 24, 2008 - The Planet privately held dedicated hosting company, has made enhancements to feature energy-efficient design, and accommodate up to 10,000 servers, in its newly upgraded Dallas D6 data center.
The new phase adds 12,000 square feet to the company’s operations, bringing The Planet’s total data center footprint to 167,000 square feet. With an enhanced design that completely separates hold and cold air, the company estimates the data center’s coefficient of efficiency will be approximately 1.5, which is below the 1.6 ideal ranking. The coefficient of efficiency is an EPA- and Uptime Institute-recognized measurement of the total power necessary to operate a data center divided by its critical power, which is the energy required to operate its servers.
Jeff Lowenberg, Vice President of Facilities at The Planet noted, ”We continue to experience solid customer demand, so this new space enables us to accommodate our growth. Additionally, operating our data centers at peak performance is important to both our company and our customers, especially as we prepare for our future.”
To further extend its energy efficiency, the new data center floor extends the plenums of the computer-room air conditioning (CRAC) units through the ceiling, using that space as a return air path. The Planet is using CPI (Chatsworth Products Inc.)-ducted exhaust cabinets in the new phase, taking steps beyond traditional ”hot aisle-cold aisle” setups to completely isolate the hot and cold air in the data center.
